IMMIGRATION TO THE UK UNDER TIER 1

Introduction of TIER 1
From Monday 30 June 2008, Tier 1 was launched in full all over the world as a part of Points-Based System. At the moment there are five sub-categories of TIER 1:

1. TIER 1 (General)
TIER 1 (General) for highly skilled migrants. (The category was closed from April 2011 for initial applications, only extension applications are available)

2. TIER 1 (Investor)
TIER 1 (Investor) for those who would like to invest in the UK economy.

3. TIER 1 (Entrepreneur)
TIER 1 (Entrepreneur) for Business persons who would like to set up or buy a business in the UK.

4. TIER 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur)
TIER 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) for graduates who have been identified by participating Higher Education Institutions as having developed world-class entrepreneurial ideas or skills to extend their stay in the UK after graduation in order to set up a business in the UK.

5. TIER 1 (Exceptional Talent)
TIER 1 (Exceptional Talent) for exceptionally talented migrants in the fields of science, arts and humanities who wish to work and eventually settle in the UK.
